Truck Traffic Volumes Remain Strong Despite COVID-19 Pandemic

PrePass Safety Alliance compiled data from January through March 2020 to compare the total number of commercial vehicles traveling past its coast-to-coast bypass locations. Representing both PrePass and non-PrePass enrolled vehicles, 13.28 million trucks traveled through or past these locations during March. This number is up from 12.74 million in February and nearly as high as the 13.29 million trucks recorded in January.

TSA Simplifies Trucking Hazmat Endorsements for TWIC Card Holders

UPDATED – April 15, 2020 The Transportation Security Administration has announced that holders of Transportation Worker Identification Credentials are no longer required to submit duplicative biographic and biometric information – and fees – to TSA when these drivers are applying for a state-administered hazmat endorsement.

FMCSA Seeks Approval for Truck Driver Harassment, Assaults Study

FMCSA says it seeks to evaluate the breadth and frequency of harassment and violence so that it may develop materials and training to educate truckers, specifically minority and female drivers, on “how to protect themselves from being stalked, harassed, assaulted or robbed.” FMCSA may also reach out to truck driver training schools to incorporate such materials in their courses.
