FMCSA Again Extends, Modifies COVID-19 Declaration Through February, 2021

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is again extending and altering its Emergency Declaration giving motor carriers and drivers relief from specific federal safety regulations related to the hauling of COVID-19 relief supplies. This extension specifically includes the transportation of vaccines, their components and supplies necessary for their administration. FMCSA is continuing the overall relief through the end of February, 2021.

Deadline Approaching for FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse Queries

The FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse began operation on Jan. 6, 2020. By regulation, motor carriers (or their designed testing consortium/third party administrator) must check the clearinghouse for information on currently-employed driversannually. That means motor carriers or consortia/third party administrators must check the clearinghouse no later than Jan. 5, 2021 for drivers hired as of Jan. 6, 2020.
