How Nuclear Verdicts Against Motor Carriers Will Affect Your Business

Research just released by the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) shows the number of verdicts larger than $1 million grew 1,750% between 2006 and 2013, from 4 to 70 such verdicts, respectively. “Understanding the Impact of Nuclear Verdicts on the Trucking Industry” reveals that, in just the last five years, juries have awarded seven-figure verdicts 300 times.

FMCSA Using Discretion When Enforcing Random Trucker Drug Testing Due to COVID-19

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) recently announced it would use discretion when enforcing the random drug and alcohol testing requirements on motor carriers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Motor carriers unable to fully comply with the requirements must document the specific reasons why they could not complete the tests and their attempts to identify other testing sites and resources.
