Bestpass, PrePass Team Up for Integrated Weigh Station Bypass and Toll Payments
HELP Inc.’s PrePass, North America’s leading provider of truck weigh station bypass services, is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Bestpass, the continent’s largest provider of toll management services for commercial trucking, to offer an integrated solution. Thanks to this new agreement, Bestpass customers can now use a single transponder for both bypassing and toll payments.
Bestpass customers now have the option of enrolling their Bestpass transponders into PrePass’ weigh station bypass system, reducing the need for multiple devices by combining toll payment and weigh station bypass capabilities in one transponder.
The goal of the agreement between PrePass and Bestpass is to help trucking fleets of all sizes, as well as owner-operators, save even more time and money, according to John Andrews, Bestpass president and CEO.
“This exclusive agreement between PrePass and Bestpass is about fulfilling part of the mission set out by Bestpass’ parent, the Trucking Association of New York, to make tolling the most manageable it can be, in this case by limiting the number of transponders in a vehicle,” said Andrews.
This new cooperative agreement between PrePass and Bestpass is possible because both services use similar transponders. The transponders use radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, which is 99.9% reliable compared with bypass apps reliant upon cellular signals. Electronic toll payments only work with transponders today, because cellular-based mobile app signals can be interrupted or unavailable.
“Using weigh station bypass services saves an average of $8.68 and five minutes each time a truck bypasses a truck weigh station, according to a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration study,” said Mark Doughty vice president and chief operating officer of HELP Inc. “With this new offering, Bestpass customers can save even more in addition to the toll discounts and time savings they are currently receiving.”
