Guest: Andrew Balthrop, research associate, University of Arkansas

The idea behind mandating electronic logging devices for truck drivers is pretty simple – to reduce hours of service violations and improve safety. However, a recent study shows that the ELD mandate, which took full effect four years ago, has had some unintended consequences.

Listen to this new episode of the “Eyes on the Road” trucking podcast as we discuss the results of this study with Andrew Balthrop, research associate at the University of Arkansas. He talks with host Evan Lockridge about why some groups in trucking had more crashes after the ELD mandate took effect, how the devices greatly reduced one type of hours of service violation and more.
