Updates for Samsara customers using PrePass’ GPS Toll Verification and Samsara GPS data

Helping fleets of all sizes more effectively manage their tolling charges led PrePass to introduce a new solution, GPS Toll Verification. Many PrePass customers already use a telematics partner to provide the GPS data for GPS Toll Verification, such as Samsara. A PrePass partner, Samsara has just announced an update in their telematics subscription tiers that will affect joint PrePass and Samsara customers who want to use Samsara GPS data for use in GPS Toll Verification. 

Samsara is rolling out updated subscription plans – Safety and Telematics, which will include Premier and Enterprise tiers. Per Samsara, “these tiers offer customers greater flexibility to select the right level of functionality based on their operational needs.” While this is scheduled to only affect new customers, existing customers will continue using their current license structures until renewal.  

Joint PrePass and Samsara customers who want to use Samsara GPS data for PrePass’ GPS Toll Verification will need to check with Samsara for new plans / renewals to ensure their new plans and/or renewals are using the Samsara Telematics plan with either Premier or Enterprise tiers. Note: this change is only for Samsara accounts and there isn’t any change to PrePass customers’ accounts. 

How does GPS Toll Verification work? PrePass utilizes a proprietary machine-learning engine and GPS technology to automatically match vehicle locations when a toll was triggered to toll charges, confirming the accurate toll charge was applied and proactively identifying potential billing inaccuracies. While PrePass can use GPS data from many telematics providers, GPS data can also be pulled from the PrePass Mobile App, which is free to use for current PrePass customers. 

The INFORM™ Tolling dashboard provides status updates for toll charges in GPS Toll Verification, including the total dollar amount of tolls under review, toll charges in dispute, and GPS-verified disputes.
