FMCSA Seeks Public Comments on Truck “Yard Moves”

Regulatory guidance, as FMCSA has proposed here, does not have the force of law. However, examples provided by regulatory guidance can help drivers and motor carriers to apply complex legal standards in real-world situations. In the case of “yard moves,” FMCSA notes that the history of hours of service and one other HOS special driving category could foster confusion, unless it provides concrete examples of “yard moves.”

CDL, Medical Card Waivers Extended Through February 2021

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has extended the waivers for renewals of interstate and intrastate commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs), commercial learner’s permits (CLPs) and medical cards to Feb. 28, 2021. CDLs, CLPs or medical cards that were granted a waiver from renewal deadlines in 2020 must be renewed and in place for commercial vehicle operations beginning March 1, 2021.
