UPDATED, May 27, 2021 – The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has permitted the extension by states of the waivers for renewals of interstate and intrastate commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs), commercial learner’s permits (CLPs) and medical cards to August 31, 2021. Drivers with CDLs, CLPs or medical cards due for renewal on or after March 1, 2021 must renew and have them in place for commercial vehicle operations beginning September 1, 2021. This waiver does not apply to a CDL or CLP holder if the driver’s license or permit expired before March 1, 2020.

BlogFMCSA Extends COVID-19 Declaration Through August of 2021
UPDATED, May 27, 2021 -The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is again extending its Emergency Declaration giving motor carriers and drivers relief from specific federal safety regulations related to the hauling of COVID-19 relief supplies. This extension specifically covers the transportation of vaccines, their components and supplies necessary for their administration. FMCSA is continuing the overall relief through the end of August, 2021. Starting June 1, 2021 and running through August 31, 2021, this will replace and modify the prior Emergency Declaration, which was set to run through May 31, 2021.
