Every year pundits, commentators – and, yes, even PrePass – play the role of fearless forecaster. Of course, were we all that prescient, we would be rich and famous! Still, signs and indications provide a glimpse of what may lie ahead, and offer a reminder of the importance of planning for eventualities. So, when we look back on the now waning year of 2021, we got some things right and some not quite right. BlogFMCSA to Issue More Warning Letters for Unsafe Driving BASIC Results
Previously, carriers received warning letters when their scores for this BASIC reached a threshold of 50% for passenger carriers, 60% for hazardous materials carriers or 65% for all other carriers. Now all carriers, regardless of category, will receive a warning letter when their Unsafe Driving BASIC score is 50% or above.

System Transport, a motor carrier based in Washington state, carried the tree on a state-of-the-art Kenworth truck equipped with PrePass. The 84-foot tall White Fir nicknamed “Sugar Bear” “grew up” in the Six Rivers National Forest in California and began the 3,300-mile journey to the U.S. Capitol Building back on Oct. 29, 2021. PrePass helps make sure System Transport trucks arrive on time by allowing them to safely bypass weigh stations across the country.
BlogRecord Traffic Fatalities, Trucking Issues and Differences
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently released a report showing the largest six-month increase ever recorded for traffic fatalities. It estimated 20,160 people died in motor vehicle crashes in the first half of 2021, up 18.4% compared to the first six months of 2020.
