On December 18, the federal mandate requiring most truckers to document work hours with electronic logging devices (ELDs) goes into effect. Many new companies you’ve never heard of have been rolling out ELD products in recent months. But now there is an easy-to-implement solution from one of the most trusted names in trucking, PrePass.
The PrePass ELD application is the latest innovation from HELP Inc., the non-profit provider of PrePass, the nation’s most complete truck weigh station bypass system. It was developed following requests from owner-operators and fleets for a simple and low-cost way to comply with the ELD mandate. Just as important, it meets all requirements and is now officially registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
For just 50 cents or less per day, PrePass ELD records driver hours-of-service, capturing only the data required by law. It operates as a bring-your-own device (BYOD) app, available now for Android devices and soon for iOS formats.
To get started, customers contact PrePass to establish a PrePass Administrator account, add driver information and order an on-board diagnostics (OBD) connector device. Once the OBD device is plugged into the truck’s diagnostic port, drivers can download the app to any tablet or smartphone to begin recording truck movement and driver hours. It’s that simple.
In addition, PrePass ELD includes Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), central web-based reporting, and simple OBD wireless connection via Bluetooth.
While customers do not have to subscribe to other PrePass services to use PrePass ELD, they will benefit from the same award-winning customer service PrePass customers have come to expect. The cost of the PrePass ELD app per license is $14.99 per month, but $12.99 per month for PrePass weigh station bypass service customers.
